Joanna Waldie

Barrister & Solicitor / Mediator

Joanna is an experienced family lawyer who focuses on Collaborative practice. Joanna believes that parties are the experts in resolving their own family disputes when equipped with knowledge and balanced advice. She endeavors to guide clients through issues such as divorce, common law separation, child support, spousal support and custody. She is also experienced in other matters including guardianship, adoption, pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements, and has experience assisting clients through division of family farms.

While Joanna looks for alternatives to court proceedings to resolve issues, Joanna is also an adept litigator. She has appeared before the Provincial Court and Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and has the skills and experience necessary to advocate for clients in court where appropriate.

Joanna graduated from the University of Alberta with a Juris Doctor in 2012. She began her law career at a general practice law firm in Stony Plain, Alberta where she practiced civil and estate litigation, wills, estates, residential real estate, and corporate and commercial law before narrowing her practice to family law. This general background gives Joanna a solid knowledge base to assist family law clients, and a unique perspective on the legal issues touching family law.

Joanna is the Co-Chair of the Association of Collaborative Family Professionals (Edmonton) and is a board member of the Collaborative Divorce Alberta Association.
