Represented Adults
Having a family member lose capacity or need extra help with their affairs can be difficult and stressful.
We are here to help you through the process. We can assist you with:
- Applying for a guardianship, trusteeship, or both
- Applying to vary a guardianship or trusteeship order
- Applying to terminate a guardianship or trusteeship order
- Guardianship and/or trusteeship order reviews
- Court-ordered account reviews
Family members can grow older and lose capacity, with or without having the necessary documents in place for you to make decisions regarding their care or to properly handle their financial matters. On the other hand, children may be on the cusp of becoming adults and be unable to look after their own matters because of mental or physical disability. In truth, health concerns and accidents can and do affect individuals of any age.
Please contact us for advice if you are in a situation that may call for an adult guardianship or an adult trusteeship to be established.
Guardianship
Guardianship deals with all the non-money matters of an adult, including their healthcare decisions, where they will live, employment opportunities, and even any legal conflicts they may be involved in.
Trusteeship
Trusteeship deals with all the financial affairs of an adult, including their bank accounts and spending money, as well as any property they may own.
Stepping Down
You may have been named under a Personal Directive or Enduring Power of Attorney and no longer feel able to take on these roles. You may also previously have been named as a Guardian or Trustee but are no longer able to continue to act in that capacity.
